Our story

About Owners Websites

Having sold a successful lettings agency on the south coast of England back in 2016, we wanted to concentrate our energies into our passion – holiday lettings!

We bought our first holiday home five years previously in 2011 due to our love of the Lake District. Like many holiday home owners, we didn’t do it for financial reasons – we were just desperate to have a cosy cottage where we could spend enjoyable holidays ourselves. In order to pay the mortgage, however, we had to find a way of it funding itself.

It’s through our own experience, from those humble beginnings, that we’ve really learned what it takes to make a success of holiday letting. After selling our residential lettings agency, we wanted to follow our passion in holiday lets and do something that utilised our experience in this field. Given that we already had vast experience in website development and marketing, there was a natural progression and Owners Websites was born – Professional Web Designers for Holiday Homes!

Today, a 3 year old website is an antique

Sometimes you have to look way back into the past to appreciate how things have evolved. Websites made in the 90s before the age of smart devices obviously look very different to those today of course.  Would you believe it though if we told you that websites made as recently as 3 years ago are built on fundamentally different principles that those being built using today’s best practices and workflows.

Changes have been driven in part by Google’s evolving search algorithyms, the advancement of animation tools, pagebuilders that use leaner less bloated code and the introduction of Utility Class Frameworks – the tools that introduce a new level of professional consistency to a website across all pages on all sizes of screens on all devices. This adds up to websites that look better, load faster, are more appealing and as a result of all these things, perform better on Google Searches.

Five years ago ‘Mobile Optimisation’ was merely a series of checks and edits to see how websites appeared on different devices. Today we implement a scalable design that adapts to ANY size screen automatically now, and in the future
