Holiday Home Domain Names

Choosing Your Domain Name

Our Hosting Services includes a (.com or.co.uk) domain name of your choice in addition to all the features of the service.

Only on rare occasions would we recommend ordering multiple domain names for your holiday home. Additional domains are often referred to as Forwarding Domains. When typed into a browser search bar they will automatically forward visitors to your website. They will not aid your website’s search ranking though, and as a forwarding domain doesn’t have its own website it won’t appear in Google’s Search Results.

Why would you purchase an additional domain

If your preferred domain name is luxurymallorcavilla.com, you may wish to purchase luxurymajorcavilla.com as well just to avoid people accidentally visiting the wrong site.

Generally though, additional domains are for businesses that wish to present different websites to different geographic areas eg: coca-cola.fr might serve the French market and coca-cola.de would serve the German market.

If you do decide to purchase an additional domain, Owners Websites can at no added cost, put in place a redirection on your secondary domain so that all traffic is automatically sent to your primary domain.

Should I choose .com or .co.uk?

Regardless of which option you choose your website will be accessible and visible to UK and overseas visitors on Google Searches.

As a rule of thumb though, if you operate a UK Holiday Home and 60% of your guests are booking from within the UK we would recommend choosing a .co.uk Top Level Domain (TLD) as this will appear more relevant on UK Google Searches than a .com TLD.If however your Holiday Rental has a broad appeal to international visitors, a ski chalet or a boutique guest house in London perhaps, then a .com could be more beneficial to you.
